World Literature/World
Views
We will read a number of "classic" works of
literature, including one Shakespearean play. Each reading assignment will
be examined critically for evidences of the author's underlying worldview.
We will identify the major worldviews and their philosophies and
characteristics. Writing assignments will accompany most reading
selections. We will not include a comprehensive Grammar component; however,
specific Grammar issues will be addressed as needed to improve writing skills.
Students enrolled in this course should possess strong reading and writing
skills; the reading requirements will be approximately one hour per day.
Classes will meet for 90 minutes per week, beginning the week after Labor Day.
Classes will be held at Valley Lutheran High School in Cedar Falls. Day and time
TBA. There will be 14 classes in the Fall semester and 16 classes in the Spring.
