Description: This
one semester class is a civics course specifically designed to follow the
election of our president. We will start with the history of our nation and our
government. We will learn about the branches of government at state and local
levels, but we will focus on the executive branch of our federal government.
Past presidents, their campaigns, and terms in office, will give us insight into
current events.
Hands-on activities, like mock elections, are going to
make this class fun. If you’ve ever said, "If I was the president…"
or "Someday, I want to grow-up to be president," then this is the
class for you!

Life Science
Spring Only

Description: God is the originator of
all life and He has created a vast array! This one semester course will begin
with the smallest life form, the cell, and progress through the plant and animal
kingdoms. Creation and evolutionary theory on the origins of life will be
discussed. Several hands-on activities are very important to this course. Some
class field trips are required in order to record sightings of plant and animals
native to our home state of Iowa. Parents will occasionally be asked to help
carpool and/or chaperone on these trips. Students will also be responsible for
three life projects: two plant projects, and one animal project. If no pet is
currently in the home, the animal project may require a purchase. If you want
your student to develop a better understanding and respect for life because God
made it, then this is the course for them!
