Maripili Hassman

I am originally from the Canary Islands, Spain. I’m married to Jeff, who is from Cedar Falls, IA. We have been married for 13 years and have 4 children.  We attend and participate actively at Prairie Lake Church.

I studied psychology in Spain and came to USA to study Christian Therapy at Liberty University in Virginia.  I have taught Spanish to homeschoolers in Cedar Falls, and in the Quad Cities.  I have also taught Spanish in the gifted program of the Quad Cities public Schools.

Spanish Beginners Class:
 K -2nd Grade

Teacher: Maripili Hassman 

This class will be an introduction to the Spanish language and culture.  We will learn the basics of the ABC and simple vocabulary with songs and games.  We will read children stories to get use to listening to the new language.  We will use a lot of pictures and colors for each topic or theme.  

Where: Trinity Church

Time: 11:30 -12:30 am

Text books:  teacher will provide the work sheets. $20

Fee: $ 20 per month

Photocopies: to be announced

Materials: folder, glue stick, scissors, crayons, plain white paper.

Class maximum: 10 students

Introduction to Spanish: 
3rd – 6th grade

Teacher: Maripili Hassman 

This class will be an introduction to the Spanish language and culture.  We will learn the basics of the ABC and simple vocabulary, to help us read and comprehend short children stories like the Three Bears.  We will begin with commons phrases and progress to simple conversation.  We’ll focus on a few grammar rules, the most common ones.

We will reinforce the lessons in class by having worksheets and audio work at home.  There is no pre-requisite.

Time: 10:25 to 11:25 am

Text books: teacher will provide the text book. $20.00

Fee: $ 20 per month

Photocopies: $5 for extra worksheets

Materials: Notebook, pencil, eraser, highlighter, folder, glue stick, scissors, dictionary Spanish/English 

Class maximum: 15 students

Middle School Spanish: 6th - 8th grade

Teacher: Maripili Hassman 

In this class will be learning to read, write and speak Spanish. This includes learning Spanish vocabulary, most of the grammar rules and how to conjugate verbs.  Students will learn to write a short essay in Spanish and read books on a weekly basis.

We will reinforce the lessons in class by having worksheets and audio work at home.

Prior Spanish studies or approval of the teacher are a pre-requisite.

Time: 9:20 to 10:20 am

Text books: Teacher will provide the text book $20.00

Fee: $ 20 per month

Photocopies: $5 for extra worksheets

Materials: Notebook, pencil, eraser, highlighter, folder & Spanish/English dictionary 

Class maximum: 10 students
