Monday Co-op

Monday Co-op is designed to provide group experiences for home schooling students that are difficult to obtain within a family group.  This includes singing in drama/speech, learning about and participating in team games during gym, and experiencing a variety of other activities.  We also offer a preschool group for younger siblings and a nursery.  At least one parent is to attend and help with Monday Co-op each week.

Who and What?  Monday Co-op is open to home schooling students and their families.

  • A Nursery will be provided for children of class coordinators and others who are actively involved in teaching or helping on any given day.

  • Preschool is designed for younger siblings of home schooling students who are 3-years-old by September 1, 2007

  • Class activities are open to home schooling students who are at least 5-years-old by September 1, 2007.  Age groups (ages as of September 1, 2007) are as follows:

              Kindergarten:  5- year-olds
              Juniors:  6 & 7-year-olds
              Intermediates:  8 & 9 y/o
              Middlers:  10-12 year-olds
              Teens:  13+ year-olds

When and Where?

Day:  Friday
Time:  1:00-3:15
Location:  Bethany Bible Chapel in conjunction with Valley Lutheran School

The year will be divided into two semesters - ten weeks each.  Each semester there will be one additional session for performance rehearsal (Friday) and performance (Saturday).  The rehearsal and performance will be at Bethany Bible Chapel in Cedar Falls.

Fees for Monday Co-op:
There will be a flat fee of $20 dollars per participating student, preschooler, and Nursery child for the year (this is for both semesters, not for each)

In addition, there is an annual membership fee of $15 per family.  This money goes toward the cost of website upkeep, with the remainder going into a general fund that may be used for future conferences, or outings that benefit all MHE members, not just Monday Co-op participants.
